Post Christmas

The day after Christmas we headed out and did some shopping.  We got Roberrt some new pajamas (on sale at Carters… yeah!!!!)  Jim and I both found some new shirts also.  We headed to Target to get some new portable power cords for various things for the road trip.  We also got Robert some new headphones for the trip.  The rest of Sunday and Monday we spent at home.

There was a lot of drumming.

Later in the day he added the microphone to the drum set so now he can sing and drum!
He played with my Mobigo a lot.

He also spent a lot of time proving to Mommy and Daddy that he is the real Buzz Lightyear.

He had Daddy write his name on Buzz’s foot so everyone knows he has an owner.

Tomorrow we hit the road for a few days in Arkansas at Jim’s Aunt and Uncle’s house.

Christmas Day

What a Christmas Day!  It was so much fun all day.  Robert was reluctant to wake up in the morning.  I tried everything, “Merry Christmas!”  “Santa was here!”  “It’s time to get up”  Finally I said, “It’s time to open presents!”  He popped right up on that one and headed for the living room.  Here he is at the top of the steps when he first saw the presents.  Funny, my first photo of the day is my favorite.xmas am 1

Then it was on to the opening!xmas am 2xmas am 3xmas am 4xmas am 5

He got way too much stuff!xmas am 6xmas am 7

Then it was time to show him the drum set.  He was so excited!drummer 1drummer 2drummer 3drummer 4drummer 5drummer 6drummer 7

After he drummed for a while he decided he was hungry.  He asked Daddy for a beagle with cheese (bagel with cream cheese) and settled in on the couch with a bagel in one hand and his Mobigo in the other hand… total sloth!xmas am 8

I got this way cool quote shaped chalk board for Christmas so we made Robert the official greeter for the day.  He was standing on the bench in the entryway holding it when people sign 2mc sign 3mc sign 4MC Sign

Grandma, Aunt Barb and Uncle Ward, Cousin Donald and Cousin Erika, Baby Lucas and Bo all came over.  We had a few different dips and chips and sandwich stuff and salads.  My spinach artichoke dip was a huge hit.  Jim made chicken liver pate for he and Mom and she really liked it. She took the remainder home with her, along with some of the spinach artichoke dip I baked separately for her.

I love this picture of my nephew and I.xmas day 1xmas day 2xmas day 3xmas day 4xmas day 5
Aunt Barb and Uncle Ward got Robert some more Legos AND a microphone… which he LOVED.  He has now moved it in by his drums so that he can drum and sing.xmas day 6xmas day 7xmas day 8xmas day 9xmas day 10xmas day 11

Christmas Eve

The weather fully cooperated this year (unlike last year) and we headed out to my Mom’s for our traditional Christmas Eve gathering.  We got to meet Donald’s new dog, Attila, who is seriously the best dog ever.  Erika, Bo and Lucas also came.  Robert got to hand out the gifts and was delighted.  He got a new Buzz Lightyear that talks and the wings light up and a Buzz Lightyear phone so he was thrilled.  He got Grandma a panda bear pillow pet since she got him the dolphin a few years ago that he loves so much.  It was a nice evening.  Mom served a prime rib dinner and it was excellent.Attila

More Christmas Stuff

Wednesday night we decided to head out to Longview Lake to see the Christmas in the Park lights display.  We stopped and got hot chocolate on the way since Robert now LOVES hot chocolate.

Unfortunately everyone else in the metro seemed to have the same idea and we spent about an hour where the only lights we saw were brake lights.  I entertained Robert by downloading  Angry Birds to my  phone.  Which led to him being more interested in playing the game than looking at the lights when we got to the display.  He finally started looking at some of them.  All in all it was a pretty good night.  Longview 1Longview 2Longview 3Longview 4Longview 5Longview 6

Family Photo Shoot

We did our traditional Christmas Family Photo Shoot this year.  Robert had a pirate Christmas sweater and insisted on taking his pirate hat with him to the shoot.  I was just thrilled it wasn’t in ALL the pictures.  He really lit up in studio.

When it was his turn he hopped right up on Santa’s lap and got down to business.  I was very happy to hear him say please and thank you in his conversation.  When he asked for a drum set Santa asked me if that was OK.  I assured him it was  SmileSantas Lap

How To Beg For a Later Bedtime

Guest blogger Robert Charles here.  OK… pay close attention.  I’m gonna teach you the fine art of begging.

#1  Flash a killer smile, it always helps.
Bedtime 1

#2 Look adorable.  Who can resist a sideways glance and puppy eyes.

Bedtime 2

#3  Repeat your request while leaning in slightly so that they can hear you better.

Bedtime 3

#4  Let your face show how disappointed you are they are not honoring your request.

Bedtime 4

#5 Flat out pout and intimate that your Mommy is the meanest Mommy in the world.

Bedtime 5

Works 9 out of 10 times… really, at least I think it does, I’m still learning odds.
