Girls Weekend!

Friday night my friend Gail and I loaded into her Jeep and headed to Omaha for a weekend getaway.  I had just completed my first week at the new job, which is good but I’m six weeks behind already and trying desperately to catch up.  Friday was our yearly Senior Managers retreat which ended with mani/pedis at the spa.

I had booked us into the Omaha Element through Travelocity and got a really sweet deal.  The room was amazing!  Full size fridge, stove top, microwave, dishwasher, spa inspired bathroom and “heavenly beds” that really lived up to their name!

On Saturday morning we headed to the Old Market area of Omaha to do a little shopping.  They have a lot of antique stores and cute little shops.

Gail found a man…

And I found Beyonce!

BEYONCE!

Unfortunately, the $800 price tag kept me from bringing her home… although Jim and I both thought she might class up the neighborhood a bit.

We headed to Blanc burger for some lunch and then found an indoor mall since the rains were moving in.  We found a lot of great deals and shopped til we dropped then headed back to the hotel.

Since it was raining and we both wanted to drink we opted to take a cab to the Funny Bone and catch the show.  The comedians were so-so.  The food was OK… but this little long island iced tea was marvelous!

Sunday morning we packed up and headed for home stopping only in St. Joe at the St. Joe Boot Store for Gail to find some new cowboy boots.

It was a great weekend full of laughing and just what the doctor ordered.  We’re already planning our next adventure.
