Back to School

Jim and I were out tonight and stopped at Barnes and Noble. It was fun watching all the Harry Potter Hype happenings. While there we picked up the Baby Signs program. I’ve seen some families who have used it pretty successfully so we thought we’d give it a try.

Harley is also going back to school. She successfully completed here Puppy Head Start class last fall so this summer we’re going to try Basic Education class. It’s six weeks and we’ll work on reinforcing the commands she knows (and does when she wants to) and adding settle and heel and clicker response. The biggest thing will be us reinforcing it here at home. She starts Monday and will go for six weeks.

Doctor Update

Doctor’s appointment went very well today. RC is continuing to grow and his heartbeat is holding steady at 150. I’m still not gaining weight but they said not to be concerned. I have to do my glucose test in two weeks. It would be next week but because my white blood count came back elevated again they want to give me another week. I explained to the doctor that I simply don’t do well on these “standardized” tests. I’m really hoping the glucose test goes well so I don’t have to do the three hour one.

We are now officially registered with the hospital (i.e. they now know where to send the bill) and have registered for our child birth classes.

Found fabric today at Hancock. Tonight I just need to figure out how much I need in each style so that I can pick that up tomorrow. Found out today I have a hunk of metal in one of my tires so now I have to go get that repaired in the morning… oh yeah. I hate dealing with vehicles. I also have to run to Waldo to pick up fudge for mom for her birthday. I also got her this three tier server that she wanted.

You’re Awake?

“You’re awake?” That was my husband’s response to me when I answered his e-mail about his travel plans for next week. Yes, amazing as it is, daylight and I’m awake. I’ve actually been up since 7 AM! Harley is not impressed with me being awake this early, she keeps looking at me like, “we’re supposed to be in bed”. I’m hoping that I can keep on a regular schedule now but know that it’s highly unlikely with Jim going out of town next Monday – Wednesday. I get horribly mixed up on my schedule when he’s not here to at least model what “normal people” hours are.

I have a doctor’s appointment at 4:30 today so that gives me time to go out for a bite to eat and get some shopping done.

Boy Birthday Kits

I got ready to scrap the pictures from Donald’s 16th birthday and found that most of my birthday kits were a little too girly for a 16 year old boy’s birthday. I was so glad to find the Celebrate Kit by the Shabby Princess. A lot more masculine for my big guy. Layout is a Simple Set by ksharonk.

RC’s New Rug

We ran to Target tonight and picked up this cool rug for Robert’s room. The floor in his room is hardwood and I wanted something a little softer and warmer since I don’t usually wear shoes and socks around the house. Slowly but surely the nursery is coming together. The plan is to have the rest of the room cleared out this weekend so that we can start prepping the walls for painting and wallpapering.

I still need to get the fabric, definitely tomorrow… if I wake up! Still working on getting my days and nights un-flipped. I went to bed at 5am and got up at 4pm today… ugh!

Hot Days

The past few days have been very hot here. At least according to the news, I haven’t ventured out of the house. But the hot temperatures do have me thinking back to the days when Donald was a Cub Scout and I the Cub Master (I just LOVED the uniform – ha! Every single woman’s dream outfit). Pop Culture

I’ve gotten sucked into this year’s World Series of Pop Culture. I hate this team, Twisted Mister but alas they advanced again tonight. I think it’s their friggin smug attitude that gets me. There is a team from Kansas City (Wokka Wokka) and a team from Lawrence (Westerburg High) so I’m rooting for the hometown folks.

Monday, Monday

Really a hum drum day today. I got nothing accomplished of substance. I did manage to do a layout of Jim’s birthday a few years ago. Template is by Princess Pamela, paper is Michelle Underwood’s Cool Kid Kit, cupcake is from Miss Mint’s Party Pants kit.

Tomorrow I really need to get out and get some shopping done. Mom’s birthday is Saturday so I have to get her present. I also need to go Friday and pick up some fudge at her favorite fudge store. I’m still hemming and hawing around figuring out the linens for RC’s room. If I can make a decision this week I can get them and take them to Mom so she has time to make everything.

Another Challenge Completed

This week’s Wordy Wednesday challenge was to use a word repetitively in your journaling. This is a poem we used in our wedding program. It’s been a favorite of ours. The pocket watch I gave Jim on our wedding day is engraved “You are my best time”. This is also my favorite picture of him from our wedding. He’s very photogenic and always takes a good picture.

Jim takes such good care of me. You would think pregnancy has made me a complete invalid, he doesn’t like me to do anything! It was so funny this morning to hear him on the phone with the warranty company and plumber, “you have to come today, my wife is pregnant and I can’t have this in my house”. He also cleaned up all the mess from the back up and the repairs. He’s used ammonia, he’s steam cleaned carpet, he’s sanitized walls… quite a guy. On top of that he’s apologized that he got “sidetracked” with that today and didn’t get anything else done.
